Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing
This page gives a basic overview of our laboratory facilities for testing intended to prove conformity with the EMC Directive 89/336/EC. The possibilities for testing are not limited to the standards as mentioned below. We are able to test in accordance with most harmonized and non-harmonised EMC standards. Contact us to find out if we can test your product.
Our Open Area Test Site (OATS) is suitable for all sorts of emission measurements. The site has been validated in accordance with several European standards and is listed with the FCC (USA), Industry Canada (IC) and VCCI (Japan).
Immunity testing can be performed up to 2 GHz, if required, with field strengths up to 20 V/m. The basic standards to which can be tested are e.g. IEC 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-3 and Automotive immunity testing according the Automotive Directive.
Conducted emission measurements, for both continuous and discontinuous disturbances, can be performed in accordance with many standards. Examples are EN 55011, EN 55014, EN 55022 and EN 55024.
Testing for electrostatic discharges (ESD) up to 16 kV, for both contact and air discharges, can be performed in accordance with the standards e.g IEC 61000-4-2 and EN 61000-4-2.
Burst or fast transient testing can be performed up to 4.4 kV for both direct injection and capacitive coupling tests. Testing can be performed in accordance with the standards e.g. IEC 61000-4-4 and EN 61000-4-4.
Surge testing can be performed up to 6.6 kV for both 1.2/50 and 10/700 microseconds pulses. Testing can be performed in accordance with the standards e.g IEC 61000-4-5 and EN 61000-4-5.
Testing for mains harmonics, voltage fluctuations, variations, interruptions and dips can be performed up to 16 Amps/phase and in accordance with the standards e.g. EN 61000-3-2/3 and EN 61000-4-11.
We are equipped to perform stripline testing in those cases where large field strengths are required or when this method of testing equipment is required by the standard or test specifications.
Two Van Veen Loops are available for testing in accordance with the standard
EN 55015. TÜV Rheinland EPS B.V. is one of the few laboratories who also has a full set of artificial fluorescent tubes available as required by the relevant standard.
