The time of a ringing bell and flashing lights when fire breaks out belongs to the past. Remote connections activate extinguishing systems and report the fire to alarm centres. TÜV Rheinland EPS has specialised in the testing of remote communication for these systems. We have recently extended our scope and are now also able to test components that use radio connections in fire detection and reporting systems according to Standard EN54-25.
Testing for Standard EN54-25 is accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) for IEC17025. TÜV Rheinland EPS has also added EN54-2 (Fire alarm centres) and EN54-4 (equipment for power supplies) to the list of accredited activities in order to provide a better service in the area of fire detection and reporting systems.
Since conformity tests are also required for fire detection and reporting systems under the CPD (Construction Product Directive) the tests for R&TTE, EMC, LVD and CPD need only to be carried out once. That can lead to faster market access and lower test costs.
Product certification
TÜV Rheinland EPS can also provide product certification for this type of fire detection and reporting system. Product certification also calls for regular production checks. The advantage is that in this case a guarantee is given of consistent quality and conformity with the specifically developed Product Certification schedules for EN54-2, EN54-4 and EN54-25.
